BEST beaches on the Big Island | Hawaii

Perks of spending a month in one place: you get to explore it inside out! Here are my favorite beaches, tested and approved ๐Ÿ˜ Detailed timestamp below ๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿฝ

0:00 Spencer Beach State Park – golden sand, laid back family vibes and very easy access โ˜€๏ธ

0:28 Mahai’ula Beach (Kehaka Kai State Park) – you’ll need a 4×4 because the road is pretty rough. It’s doable with an SUV but I ended up with a nail in the tire ๐Ÿ‘€ Many folks hiked to it and it’s definitely worth it! Perfect farniente spot and not too crowded, since it’s not as easy to get to ๐ŸŒด

1:05 Hapuna Beach – gorgeous white sand beach, famous for whales passing by ๐Ÿ‹

1:32 Kealakekua Bay – one of my favorite spots on the island ๐Ÿฌโค๏ธ

2:10 Papakลlea – Green Sand Beach – most rewarding to get to hiking! But you can also hop on a jeep for a few bucks. Very unique beach โœจ I didn’t swim there because there was too much wind, but you can see some folks were having good fun ๐Ÿ˜‰

2:47 Punalu’u – Black Sand Beach – very nice spot with sleeping turtles hanging out. You can totally swim too! Lots of coconuts on the beach you can pick up and treat yourself to coconut water ๐Ÿฅฅ

3:05 Kua Bay – super fun for the waves, and the color of the water is surreal!

3:26 Makalawena Beach – gorgeous little spot that you can only access with a real 4×4, or hiking (30-45min). We went there to camp, and woke up to whales passing by at sunrise ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜
